"My husband and I chose this hotel mainly for the location. Our room was ocean front and we had our own private balcony. Upon arriving at the hotel, the lady at the front desk (who was very nice by the way) tried giving us a room that shared a deck with about 4 other rooms. Since we were on our honeymoon, I asked if it was possible for us to get a room with a private deck, after all, we were paying good money to stay there. If you are planning on going to this hotel for a romantic get away, I would suggest making it very clear that you want a private balcony before they put you in a room that shares a balcony with a bunch of screaming kids"

"The best thing I can say is that you get what you pay for. You are paying a lot for location but less than other hotels in Laguna Beach - all for a reason. Please understand this is a 2.5 star hotel, not 3, or even 4. If you keep that in mind, you'll be very happy with the large comfortable rooms, the great bed, and the outstanding location. The bed really was great and there was some simple artcolor in the room that made it a tad bit less hotel-feeling. We made sure to get a beach front room - that doesn't mean you can walk out on the beach, it means you have an amazing view of the ocean and you can hear the crashing waves at night. The beach isn't much in front of the hotel, but a short walk down and you'll find plenty of sand. Also, the balconies overlap and you'll find yourselves feet from your neighbors in plain view. That would probably bother some, so be prepared. It's not a big deal and the trade off is that instead of dividers between the balconies for pricy that would limit your ocean view, you have a huge panoramic view. That means you can see far and wide from inside your room, and more outside on the balcony. Again, it's a 2.5 star hotel so someone with high expectations in general or based on what they paid should be warned. Little things like the back of the AC for the room next door is connected to your balcony. Meaning if they use it (they shouldn't, but our neighbors did), you'll hear it drone on. A little annoying, but it shouldn't get you down - it's a hotel, and it's 2.5 stars. Besides potential views for a beach front room, every room is ideal because the free L.B. shuttle stops right in front of the hotel, you can walk down the beach forever, you can walk to all the great stores and galleries and restaurants, and you can park (it's $12 a day, but you'd pay the same in L.B. for the day). So be patient, understand what you are getting, and enjoy all the good things about Laguna Beach from a really nice and convenient hotel."

"As places meant to make your beach visit fun and memorable go, TPE does a credible, if not fantastic job. It's very convenient for downtown Laguna, and at least part of the property fronts a shorebreak with a sandy bottom. It's not large on atmosphere, but you'll get a comfy bed and serviceable -- if not completely private-feeling -- balcony, stuff in the room that works and enough lighting easily enough accessed to serve its intended function as solid background for a sunbathing holiday. There's a restaurant in the grounds, as well as a pool, though the latter isn't very fun because it's overheated. The service is polite but not enthusiastic (I had to gently keep asking for more help each step of the way in a small but significant matter to keep my helper from abandoning me to go back to the front desk, even though she had a partner she knew would be able to stay there). Last but not least, this place skimps a little on easily providable conveniences -- there's no ATM on-site, for instance, assumedly because they figure (as they told me) these are so readily available in the immediate vicinity. In short, TPE is OK if all you want is a quick beach stint, just don't go looking for character, or too much in the way of high class. In other words, it's a hotel, not a resort. Keep that in mind, get your best price deal, and TPE will almost certainly fulfil your needs and expectations."

There are several local resturants and stores located within walking distance...you will not get bored. They had two heated pools available and a hot tub. The downside is that we had to pay for parking! We got a view and paid very little for it. We would love to come back and stay our whole vacation here next time we go back."

"The bathroom unbelievably small - faucet in showertub had stripped threads so temperature of water did not adjust easily. No air circulating in bedroom part of the room. Noisy location - actually like sleeping on a busy alley where the garbage trucks drive through. Oh yes - that is what happened. Neighbors played drums, had a bunch of screaming kids and young adults who also did not know how to use their "inside voices." But that was okay because power tools being used for renovation work started up outside our room early on Friday and Saturday mornings. We could not wait to get out of this place."

"The hotel location was perfect - right next to the beach and the venue of a wedding we attended. Guest service was excited to let me know they upgraded our room, but when we went to our room, I couldn't find an elevator for that particular bldg. When asked one of the staff, they just smiled and walked away. It left me alittle dumbfounded. We had our 7 month old grandson traveling with us and needed the refrigerator. When I opened the refrigerator there were wires hanging and it was plugged in. The maintenance guys came in and said "oh yeah, we'll get another one". The rolled in another portable refrigerator and plugged it in. The appliances and the bathroom were very outdated, but the bed was very comfortable. My daughter booked their room at the same time and requested 2 Queen beds and they gave them an "upgraded" room with a beautiful view of the ocean, but with one Queen bed. They asked for a roll away bed which was never delivered until the next day. Therefore someone had to sleep on the floor that night. The hotels only compensation was a cheap bottle of wine, they probably bought the grocery store across the street. The hotel was a disappointment for the price, but the location was perfect."

Excellent location within walking distance of park, shopping and restaurants. Very limited parking and I was surprised when I checked out that they charge $12day plus tax to park. This is not included in your room prepayment. Hotel is dated and could use a remodelupgrade, although the overall upkeep is good. For this place it is all about location, and you cannot get a better location than this."

"I was recommended this hotel being that a friend was getting married at this location and I needed somewhere CLOSE because I was doing the hair and make-up for the wedding. I read the reviews and weighed out the good and bad, I figured I'd take a shot being it was convenient to my needs. We arrived and I went to check-in, first off my reservation was wrong and they proceeded to do NOTHING about it. They told me they where going to give me a hid abed free of charge since they were unable to place us in the CORRECT room. Second, we checked into our room and proceeded to get ready being that we have prior engagements later that evening. As we where getting ready I figured I'd call and ask them to have someone bring up the bed before we leave for the night. That way when we return to our room later that night we wouldn't have to worry about it. Upon our arrival, we realized the bed was no where to be found. I called and demanded to have someone bring us a bed or else someone would be sleeping on the floor. The gentleman proceeded to tell me it was out of his hands being that the managers had left for the night and they hold the key to all extra storage. So the next morning I went up the guest services and complained, they apologizes and said, "We are very sorry about this and we will send you a basket of something to your room." Later in the evening, all was sent was a CHEAP bottle of wine and No compensation. In the END, I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this hotel being that they serve very bad costumer service. The view was nice but in no way would I ever go back again!"

"We paid the extra money to have a view of the ocean. SOOO worth it! The view could not have been more perfect. Nothing between us and the beachwater. If you want to go down to the beach, it is about a 30 yard walk from your room door. They provide beach lounge chairs and large umbrellas for you. We will be staying here probably onceyear for the forseeable future. We went for a romantic getaway, and we walked everywhere, because everything was so close. Shopping, lunch, dinner, beach, Starbucks, art galleries, bars, bookstores. A large HEATED pool and spa, game room for the kids with air hockey etc. Perfect for family or romantic getaway. Room was not the nicest room every, but was very clean, had a good size fridge, stove, microwave, and a magnificent view. If you are very picky about having a NICE beautiful room, don't stay here. If you want the beach proximity and view and a great location, it doesn't get better than this."

"It's a Motel thats been partially upgraded. The regular rooms are tiny but I think the suites look nice size. The beds linens wall art are better than average but there is still a motel feel about the place, though I get the impression they are working hard at fixing that. If you have a room at all close to the larger poolgame room area, or the soda ice machines - you better not want quiet or peace because you will not get it. These areas all noisy all night long, have a lot of foot traffic and loud guests. They have a nice patio area on the beachfront as well as lovely beach access and they hotel staff is very nice and helpful. I secured a room for half price thru Hotels.com which was good however, I'd have really felt ripped-off if I had paid full price for the small non-view room. I think that they are really trying so I give them credit for that."
