"This was a nice hotel with the new renovation and good for the price. But, ask questions! The staff was very friendly and upgraded my room, but nothing was mentioned about being in room next to a room with a dog. I love dogs, but not barking ones at 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The room was fine, although what I'm assuming was newer carpet from the renovation was dirty. I always wear socks in hotels for that reason and this time my socks were particularly dirty. I'm guessing this may be because there have been dogs in this room before, since there are no designated pet rooms. Also, I was in an ajoining room and could hear the neighbors conversation very clearly. On the plus side, the room was large with a great view of Long Beach and very comfy bed. The balcony is a nice feature as well. The restaurant Fuego was excellent...food, setting and atmosphere. It's a hotel with much going for it. If they work out the designated pet room issue, it will eliminate 2 of the issues I wrote about...being awakened in the middle of the night and the dirty pet Xander carpets. So, ask questions before booking to see if these have been addressed...if it matters to you."

"The rooms are clean and nice, Free internet, the view of the bay is incredible, you can see the light house, the bridge across the bay has coool colored lights, the completed renovations to the lobby and restauranut are really nice. This hotel is off the beaten path a little, but that is part of what makes it so cool. I have seen other reviews and others saying they would not stay here. I am really not sure what they are looking for. This place is nice, expecially if you get a room with a view of the bay. You can jog along the bay, fish, ar just sit back and relax."

The pool was beautiful - private cabanas for sunning! Our teenagers enjoyed playing on the sand volleyball court each evening. There was some landscape renovations going on with some minor noise associated with it if you were sitting outside on the patio - otherwise, not a problem. The water taxi and Passport bus made it very convenient to go to the downtown area without a car -nice to be able to avoid driving in so much traffic and avoid the parking costs. I would definately recommend this hotel to others!"

"We LOVED our balcony overlooking the Long Beach bay and city skyline! When I booked the hotel it was under construction so I was not sure what to expect. We were thrilled to see an eclectic design of Latin influence once inside the hotel. The designer has taken care of most every detail. The air conditioner does need to be changed, very noisy. Also, the bar hours were short. In hotel entertainment would have been nice. We might never have left to go into the city."

"I've stayed at this hotel many times over the last ten years as it changed ownership and management. In it's previous incarnations it was affordable and had a certain quirky charm but was definitely showing it's age. The new remodel is stunning. Comfortable seating areas abound. The outdoor patio area has tripled in size. The pool is gorgeous and bordered on one side by cabanas. The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds incredibly comfortable and decked out with an assortment of pillows.
My complaints about the room are minimal and may be ironed out with time. There was no hotel information book in the room making it difficult to determine exactly which services were available and when. The in-room coffee tasted like burnt plastic and was not hot. Finally, the room key is set to deactivate exactly at noon as determined by their clock. I returned to the room after breakfast at 11:55 to get my things and check out and my key wouldn't work. As I was walking back to the lobby building to fix the issue, the noon horn blew on the Queen Mary so I know my watch was working. Obviously, the hotel clock was a little fast. Either way I feel that the key should at least have a 15 minute window.
The food at the restaurant was amazing when ordered off the regular menu but they only offered a buffet for breakfast and it left a lot to be desired. It was very limited and didn't include a mimosa or bloody mary which I desperately needed when I discovered that the restaurant coffee was only a step above dirty water and they didn't have an espresso machine.
The bar had an amazing assortment of tequila and made their own margarita mix so I highly recommend the margaritas.
It also looked like they might have a bar at the pool but it was never open so we couldn't tell for sure. The other drawback at the pool is that there was no towel service. They put out one towel on every chair at the beginning of the day and if someone took an extra from another chair you were out of luck, It was al"

The hotel has just reopened and regular food service was not available during our stay. Breakfast was okay, but overpriced. The only complaint we had was the very loud air conditioners, but within the room and from other units in adjacent rooms."

"Great hotel for the price we paid, and great view (ocean view). There was slight constructionmaintenance going on, but nothing that disturbed our stay.
The hot tub was currently not working, but the pool area was beautiful and included cabanas and dozens of lounge chairs for guests. The pool also had a bar that was not open at the time of our stay. I hope that this is opened for our next trip. The architectural lighting at night made the hotel feel that much more appealing. Our room was very clean, and the view very relaxing. Exactly what I was looking for, for a weekend away after not having taken a vacation for over a year. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We posted "do not disturb" sign and housekeeping called to make sure we didn't need anything. As someone who has stayedworked in a lot of hotels for job, and vacations, this is a very unexpected and appreciated trait. The hotel was a little hard to find using directions from the internet. But the hotel was right across bay from eating and shopping. My fiance and I will definitely be returning for our next stay."

It was a little harder to find but it could be because we came from colorado but it was right on the bay, within 10-15 minutes from the beach and downtown long beach, and the weather was perfect. The hotel Queen mary is right next door ( alittle pricey) so it was nice to admire it. the only down side was we got a little lost going to the beach and found there was a fine line between the nice downtown and the not-so-nice downtown. All in all though the hotel was clean, modern, the bed was VERY comfortable and I can't wait to go back!"

"I chose this hotel based upon several friends recommendations. They all stayed at the hotel many, many, many times. I arrived and checked into the hotel with no problems. I was in building #4 (room 4412). There is a city presure release value that makes a high (extremely loud) pitched sound every 15 seconds and does not stop for 1 hour - stop and begins the next hour. I called the front desk and they were aware of this issue, but failed and would not provide this information until a complaint is made. I had to change rooms at 11:30 pm after complaining. The next day I had to complain 3 times regarding a very large party in the next room. I had to sign a form stating I would not have a party in my room, but I had to complain 3 times at 11:15, 11:30, and 11:45 pm to get the hotel to make the 6 - 8 people in the room to vacate. Other than the above, the hotel stay was good. I had boat access as my boating friends could pick me up to view the 4th of July fireworks on the water."

I was here when they were doing the renovation back in June and I enjoyed my stay.
Well back again in July and renovations were done. When I got there my reservations were not immediately found but eventually they found them. When I got to my room I had booked marina view King I got a marina view 2 queens. They promptly moved me into the proper room. Beyond that miss hap the stay was wonderful. The view gorgeous. Front desk very helpful. Never got the chance to order room service or even go swimming. I must say though I did walk to the swimming pool and was disappointed that it was not as large as I expected it to be. All in all though I enjoyed my time there and will yet again go back. This has quickly become my favorite place to stay."

"I stayed here with a wedding party. While Hotels.com did list the property as being renovated, nothing prepared me for the mass of heavy equipment you had to dodge to get into the parking lot let alone the sheer volume of the noise. Finding where to register was a mess. There was a small sign on the side of one of the buildings. If you didn't see it you were out of luck. The registration is in a motel room. It was cramped and extremely unprofessional. The staff were rude and unwelcoming. On thing that was not listed at the time I made my reservation is you have to pay an additional $10 per day to park. And it's not like there is any alternate parking. Getting down to the rooms, the decor is tacky like left overs from a bad 70s hotel room. They call it 'Maya' but it is more Aztec. Green and orange are not calm and welcoming colors to me. There was dust everywhere (and my room was not adjacent to the heavy construction area). The cleaning staff seems to do as little work as possible. The key to the mini bar is not in the room nor was I offered it when I checked in. I had to call the desk for one which they wanted me to come get. Finally someone grudgingly brought it up so I could get some water. Ice machines are only on the first floor so you have to go up to your room, get the ice bucket and go back down for ice and back up once again. The elevators are tiny if you're clausterphobic I wouldn't recommend them. The bathroom is atrocious. First there is not a separate vanity area but worse is the lighting. Ladies don't even try to put makeup on in the room. I think they're using 40 watt bulbs. There is no where for you to put your personal products either. But the real deal breaker is the shower. Ok I understand about conservation but it took me 15 minutes just to rinse off. I'd still be there if I had to wash my hair. There are several more negative things I could say about the rooms but I think you understand that I was very unhappy. The only postive I can give them"

"Beautiful hotel rooms, stylish with modern technology like flat panel TV, wireless service, etc. Outstanding view of Long Beach harbor and downtown skyline. Remodeling construction had to be "worked around" but wasn't bad. Problem: hotel guests "partied" all night long; this noise was way out of line for a high quality hotel."

"Unfortunately, the hotel was under construction "renovation." The actual hotel room was great; however, I was placed in the room next door to another hotel room they used for the continental breakfast. The noise which started at 5:30am when setting up the breakfast was loud. It was even louder when guests started coming in at 6am for breakfast. So I didn't really get too much sleep at all. That was my only complaint about my stay. If I knew ahead of time that the breakfast was given in the room next door, I would have asked for another room."

"I really liked this hotel! We stayed for a festival at Shoreline Village and I thought because of the construction going on it would make our stay uncomfortable but it actually didnt. I actually didnt notice it that much. I loved the room which was clean and had a beatiful view of the docks, downtown Long Beach, and the Queen Mary. The room was trendy and updated and was rather large. The ONLY thing I did not like about the place is when I called on Sunday to see if I can get an early check in, I received total attitude from one of the girls at the front desk. But, I guess I can understand that since it was very busy that day? Oh well. But anyway, this place rocks! You get a free shuttle to Downtown and back and it's worth it! I recommend it to all my friends for next year's festival!"

"The Hotel Maya was very relaxing. Although there was construction going on they did not start to early. We had a view overlooking the water very peaceful. Would of been nice to have a restaurant, the coffee that was served was weak, need stronger coffee. But over all it was a great stay."

"The hotel was nice, we liked it. There was a lot of work being done on it though so it looked rather torn apart. Nice location and staff. Confusing when trying to get there, better directions would help. Overall, we liked it."

"I think I was way over charged. I understood that they were doing renovations but I think they should have lowered the rate during construction. No bar,no restaurant. Rooms were nice."

"Hotel under rennovation. No guest laundry available. Service OK. Rennovated rooms are clean and nicely appointed, but I could have used a guest laundry."

"Although the Hotel was under Construction, we stayed there on a Friday and Saturday and construction was halted during those days. We stayed in a non view room, but it still looked over a new group of palm trees, so we were happy with the room we had. Good Things
1. The room was very cool...
2. Modern amenities that included a 36" flat screen TV
3. A new bed (very comfortable)
4. Renovated bathroom
5. Very cool Kuerig single cup coffee maker.
6. The staff was very helpful and efficient.
7. The view of the harbor and the walking path leads right to the Queen Mary.
8. Good basic free breakfast with a very helpful gentleman, Alfonzo, there to help you out with what you need. He was a treat. Not as Good Things
1. That darm Alarm Clock... Funny Thing. The Alarm Clock was a new Sony Dream Machine (yea right). It has a hookup to your iPod if you want. The bad thing was that some idiot set the alarm for 6:30 am (not me)... I couldn't figure out how to shut if off, so in a daze, I unplugged it... On Sunday, it went off again (it has a backup battery)... argh...
The model is a Sony ICF-C1ipMK2... If you go there... go to Sony website and download your own operations manual :-) 2. My wife didn't think there was enough room for storing stuff in the bathroom... ehhh..."

"I have stayed at three hotels in the Long Beach area. The Hyatt, the Westin, and now the Maya. The room is as nice as the rooms were in the other two higher prices hotels. The view of the bay, was spectactular. The price was great. If you do not mind getting off of the beaten path a bit, then this place is great. You do not have all of the amenities of the Hyatt or Westin, but the affordability of the room and the settings make up for it. Who needs a gym when you can run along the beautiful shore line. Go see the Queen Mary, free shuttle to downton Long Beach. the hotel was currently going through some renovation when i was there, and ZI sure when these are complete the place would be able to rate right there with some of the larger estabishments. I would definetly stay here again."
