Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA I do not recommend this hotel. First, it's pricy at $130 night, which is the conference rate. Second, it's not ADA complaint. I have to navigate two sets of stairs with my walker to get to and from the room where most of our ses...ssions are held. I fell on my butt coming down the stairs this morning. Third, my room is poorly planned. There's no end table by the armchair. The coffee maker sits unpluggged on a table that's miles from a plug. There's no real chest of drawers.

"This hotel was built in 1920 and hosted the Academy Awards for years. They have many Academy Award photographs throughout the hotel dating back to the 20's. So many famous people walked the halls and rooms of this hotel. A security guard showed us the famous ballroom where the Academy Awards were held! I highly recommend it and I will stay there again. The hotel is a must see and the rooms and service were impeccable!! The price was unbelievable considering its stateliness and great downtown location!!"

"The rate was so low that I was afraid it might be run down. But it's in great shape. Sure, it's an 86 year old hotel, and not as modern as others, but it's beautiful. Don't miss the subterranean pool. And it's a block from the subway, so you can get around town easily."

"The hotel was great and had a lot of character. However, the rooms could use a little work. There were stains on the desk chair and the carpets could use a shampoo as well. Besides that, the bed and pillows were really clean and comfortable and there was very little noise. The overall service exceeded my expectations. Everyone was professional and very friendly. Room service was prompt and the menu was great. My biggest gripe would have to be the expensive parking. I used valet the first night which was way overpriced. There is a lot directly across the street that has secure underground parking for 13 of the cost of valet. Plus you have easy access to your vehicle."

"A downtown location which is safe, but removed from some of the sites. This hotel is a beautiful hotel that has good service. The appointments within the room are a 3.5 out of 5. The best part of this hotel is the history. They have large photographs of events throughout L.A.'s history that have taken place at the Biltmore, most notably the Academy Awards."

"The Millenium Biltmore was convenient for our conference which was held at the Westin Bonaventure, 2 blocks away. We enjoyed the quiet and calm atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the Health Club and the opportunity to workout and swim each day. Our room had a comfortable bed, but only had one nightstand. The built-in dresser and desk top were dated, rough and in need of upgrading. The bathroom had a few deficiencies, such as inadequate space for toilettries, an old bathtub and hand towels located in back of the door. The housekeeping staff did a nice job of freshening up our room each day."

We went so far as to go out and buy a candle. Great for making movies, as I have seen this hotel in movies and on TV. I now pick one of the more expensive hotels for the cleanliness. The price was cheaper but I guess you get what you pay for."

"The hotel was really nice. It is decorated very beautifully inside. I got a very classy and pristine feel once inside the hotel.
As soon as we checked in, we were upgraded to one of the renovated rooms, which was fantastic. The only downside to it was the tub drained really slowly. Even after a 5 minute shower, it took about 10-15 minutes for all the water to drain.
Walking outside the hotel was nice, but somewhat limited. As soon as you exit there is a nice park to take a small stroll through. It was either that or the jewelry district that was a block or so away. Plenty of places to eat about two or three blocks away from the hotel.
The hotel also does not have a self served parking, valet parking only. That was a bit of a letdown since finding parking in LA is a constant uphill battle."

The room carpet had stains, there was a 15 inch tv, no room service menu, only the soap and a shower cap were in my room (no shampoo, conditioner). For the money, the rooms should have been nicer. It can be an old hotel and still be taken care of better."

"We had a difficult reservation: three rooms, non-smoking, preferably next to each other, preferably with double beds (even though hotels.com said there were only kings available), on a convention AND holiday weekend. The Biltmore accommodated all of our requests with a smile. In addition, they brought a mini-fridge to the room when we asked, checked out a stuck cold-water faucet when we asked (the only problem with the room), and even provided information about alternatives to their exorbitant ($40day!) parking fees ($15day, right across the street). I don't think I've ever had such good service at a hotel! The hotel is beautiful and historic, as well, though with modern amenities (air conditioning etc.). But what really made it stand out was the service. Great job, Millenium!"

In addition, it was difficult to know where to go to find the accessibility options when faced with stairs. For example, to go from a room where cocktails were being served before dinner, you had to be lifted in a box and then lead through the kitchen to get to the banquet room."

"We went to LA on our honeymoon on a budget. I wouldn't want to pay the going rate for the room, but for the price we paid it was fantastic. There is $12 per day parking across the street, so you do not HAVE to valet like they say. Room service was way overpriced, but Smeraldis restaurant downstairs is fantastic. The sauna was out of order the whole week we were there, but the pool was great and always towels poolside. Seperate large shower and tub was nice, and the AC worked great. The only problems we had the city bus traffic all night was very loud, but we got used to it. We were on the corner of the 9th floor and our neighbors door kept slamming at all hours. Slow closers would be nice.
Overall, a great place, and I liked the history."

I requested a double weeks before my stay and multiple times. Once I spoke to the front desk they said there is nothing we can do but we'll put you on a "waiting list". That didn't get us anywhere and most of us slept on the hard floor with a blanket for the night. Also the rooms are very muggy and tempatures are either freezing, or humid and hot.
