"We were in this resort for 2 nights. We stayed in the beach view room though we get it upgraded to beach view room from Beachviewpoolview room. Our room was facing Gulf of Mexico. Balcony and rooms were awesome with great ocean view. It has small kitchen too. For home loving food, one can go to Publix near by and get some food stuffwine to enjoy in the balcony. Location is perfect for water sports. My son and I enjoyed wave runner. My wife and daughter enjoyed hotel and beach. Cabana Bar was good. One will definetely enjoy the location and beach. It has a good clean swimming pool. We are from Miami area and wanted to come out from home and enjoy peaceful location and have quality time with family kids."

"We just returned from a week stay at the Diamondhead Beach Resort. We rented a gulf island view room and had a wonderful view of fort myers beach area, the gulf, pier and great sunsets. Overall the room was very nice. The dishwasher in the room was a little run down, but worked fine. The pool is smaller than it appears in the photos, but the kids had a great time anyhow. Only negative comments: A lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water so the kids were not able to swim in the water outside the resort. We stayed at the hotel during spring break and there was a lot of noise from the street."

"Pros: The Diamondhead Beach Resort was definately the nicest hotel in the immediate area. Our room was facing the ocean which provided a beautiful view as well as calming sounds at night. It was also recently remodeled, so the room looked upscale. It was nice having the kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, diswasher and cooktop. Cons: The rooms are only set up to have one king sized bed and one pull out couch. The Diamondhead did not have rollaway beds, so our family of four with one daughter and one son had to make the best of the sleeping situation with our opposite-sex kids sharing the pullout sofa bed. This did not make our kids happy. The waitstaff in the lounge was rude. The music in the live music in the lounge is terrible. We had a problem getting our keys to work for our room at check-in. We had to make multiple trips from the 10th floor to the lobby to have our keys reswiped at the front desk. Maintenance ended up coming to our room and they fixed out door lock."

"I visited Diamondhead on a girls getaway and initially it was not what we expected. The lobby is almost non-existent, the hallways are strange and open to the air, and the rooms are apartment-style, with some of them available for purchase. However, once we got over our expectations and the rain (a rare occurance I'm told) passed, the stay was very nice. Housekeeping did a great job and all the rooms are nice and have a lovely view of the gulf. The pool area and beach are well-kept, with soft white sand and a booth where you can sign up for watersports (we loved the waverunner dolphin tour and parasailing). One of the two hot tubs was not working, but the other one was nice. The food at the outdoor grill was good. It was nice to have access to the bar, but the drinks were mediocre for the price. Evening entertainment is geared for the 40 native crowd, but the neighboring bars are geared more toward the spring break crowd. If you don't like the SB atmosphere, I'd avoid going during Spring break season, but Diamondhead has a 25 policy (supervised children are ok), so it is a quieter atmosphere. In fact, not being a partier myself, Diamondhead is the only hotel I'd stay at on the north end of the island (the rest seem kind of shady to me). There aren't really any upscale storesrestaurants on the island like the pictures led us to believe, it's more of a local, beachy atmosphere. If you want restaurant chains, familiar stores, movie theaters, etc, I'd recommend renting a car and driving to Fort Myers across the bridge. If you're content to lay on the beach all day and satisfied with local cuisine, no car needed!"

They then did telecheck , bingo, we were in the horro hotel. We arrive to our room which the air conditioner was not working. Food spoiled while three sets of keys ,did not work. I WAS ENRAGED. Myers Beach itself is fabulous and we were never at a loss for things to do! Visit the Times Square area if you can, lots of restaurants and souvenir shopping...hotel is walking distance from pretty much anything you would need and every balcony is screened in for added privacy...pool is warm and view is great...I see people mention the time share presentation; it may sound like a hassle, but worth it. We got a fantastic gift certificate for any service at the hotel and we used it to rent jet skis, plus take some money off of our final room charge...one word of advice: it would be in your best interest to rent a car if you want to see Sanibel or go back into Ft. "This hotel's amenities and cleanliness make it a strong value. The pool and deck area are well kept and convenient. Having a barrestaurant right at the pool is great. The only drawback was the relative location on the strip. The hotel is in a congested area and there were many people using the pool, bar, and restrooms that weren't hotel guests (lots of college spring breakers). Having young children with us this caused some concern, though we just kept an extra eye on them at all times. The hotel will try to get you to take a tour and join their vacation club. For a 90 minute tour you can get a * resort credit and free beach towels. We skipped this option and the staff never bothered us again. Overall this is a strong value option and the rooms were neat and well kept."
