"My daughter, granddaughter and I spent a mini-vacation here. The hotel exceeded our expectations especially in location and amenities. The hotel is on the beach with lounges and umbrellas provided. The pool area was clean and big enough not to be crowded. The free use of the bikes meant we did not have to bring ours. Close to restaurants, shops, trails, etc."

"The hotel was very nice. the room was clean and the staff helpful. The pool was clean and spacious. Replacement of the tables by the pool is needed. The bikes are in need of repair, I understand they are free to use but some are in bad shape. Overall the 3 days were comfortable. I recommend this hotel for a weekend getaway either romantic or otherwise, but before you go check the weather, yes it rained and we were limited on what we could do."

"The Sanibel Sunset Beach Resort is a very simple yet clean hotel with a very friendly staff. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome... especially with our toddler in tow. The room was very clean and modern, yet homey. The screen porch in our particular room was great for the rainy day and the evenings (Sanibel does have a lot of mosquitoes in the warmer months). There were bikes for us to use on Sanibel's many bike paths, although most were not in top shape (rent a bike if you are picky about bike quality). There is not really any food option within walking distance, but there are many a 15 minute bike ride or 5 minute drive away. We used the complementary umbrellas and chairs on the beach and the pool was clean and big."

"My wife and I loved it here. We arrived on Monday and left on Wednesday. We decided to check out the Keys. We loved Sanibel so much we turned around after a two nights and returned to Sunset Beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The room had a kitchenette that was nice. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel.

"We were there for the April school vacation week in April. The stay at this hotel was a very relaxing experience. The beach was great. The pool was perfect and never crowded. A tiki bar on the beach or a restaurant would have been nice. The continental breakfast was good. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. It was also a short drive to all shopping and dining establishments. The resort supplied bikes and beach lounge chairs with umbrellas were a big plus since the last time we stayed at a Fort Myers Beach hotel we had to rent them daily. Overall a very good experience."

"On the 1st morning at our hotel, I walked the beaches and found the mother load. Buried just short of the shore line was a 5 pound Conch Shell. This was a once in a life time experience. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"The name says resort, but I would hesitate to use that term. Nice pool, easy acess to the beach, cordial staff. The room booked by Hotels.com was below grade and had no balcony. We were offered an upgrade for $15.00 which had a refrigerator and stove along with the balcony. The continental breakfast was coffee and donuts. Close to the wildlife sanctuary and quiet. I would, in general, recommend this hotel."

"The "resort credit" shown on Hotels.com is not accurate.The "up-to" $75.00 credit is to use at a sister property for food etc., or for use at gift shop which is nothing more than t-shirts and sunscreen behind the registration desk. I purchased a more expense room thinking that I could use the credit and make up the price of the room, but, I wasn't able to use the credit AT ALL.Otherwise, the resort is awesome, the beach great, and all inclusive with use of beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, hammocks, tennis courts, shuffle board and pool.We'll be back without the "resort credit"."

"excellent location. our initial room was on the ground floor and extremely claustrophobic with a single small window and no balcony. I had to pay another $20 per day to upgrade our room to the second floor with balcony and seafront view.I would be careful with the room selection if I plan to go there again. but I would rather choose a different resort as I think I will get a better place for the money I spent on the room."

"As I pulled into the driveway I didn't have high expectations since there's a distinctly motor lodge initital impression to this mostly two-story property. Once inside - wonderful, wonderful beds, great tv, compact kitchen with granite countertops and all basic kitchen utensilsappliances (coffee maker and toaster) and tasteful granite bathroom with fluffy, new towels. Small screened lanai had new, stylish chairs and small table. Beach areapoor and outstanding. Pretty stretch of beach, very uncrowded with complimentary and new beach umbrellas and chaise lounges. Bikes are also available free of charge. Pool is larger than most hotel pools on Sanibel and have canopied chaise lounges for those who don't want too much sun. Complimentary breakfast in lobby includes boxed cereal and supermarket bakery quality croissant, donuts and muffins. Orange juice, oranges and apples were also provided. I passed on the coffee (which was pretty bad) because I'm really picky about coffee and had brought my own. Front office staff and housekeeping very pleasant and helpful. I've already booked a return trip for October."

"I'll start with the only downside. If you don't rent a car (and we didn't) then you'll need to walk or bike if you want to go out. It's a tad under 2 miles to the nearest restaurant (at another resort; quite good if quite expensive) and about 3 miles to the bulk of the restaurants on the strip (periwinkle). For my wife, who wanted to wear chic resort clothes, this was a disappointment. A few places deliver, and there is a taxi service, but the bike is best, even if it forecloses fancy clothes and lots of drinking. Otherwise, everything else was PERFECT."
