"The room was nice, as was the lobby and restaurant. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very overpriced, though. We had trouble with a desk clerk helping us with directions to a restaurant but then being completely wrong, causing my wife and I to get temporarily lost. I understand that no one can know how to get everywhere in Atlanta, but if you don't know, just say so. I booked a "King Deluxe" room but only received a room with a queen bed. The clerk said that hotels.com sent the reservation as a queen room, and that it says in the fine print that you aren't guaranteed the type of room you book, so be aware of that."

"From the Valet parking attendant to the bellhop and desk clerk, check in was a very easy process. Very polite and helpful with questions about area restaurants and things to do. Able to view a special event Shriners parade. from the 2nd floor balcony where wine cheese were served. Internet service was easy to connect to. They stored our luggage after check out, as we were departing after the check out time. Would stay again should we have to come back to Atlanta. Directly across from the Marta for those flying in with no vehicle."

"an overall good experience. the hotel itself is a very modern boutique style hotel. the only thing i didn't like was the valet service. with the hotel being downtown, parking is limited. therefore, you're pretty much forced to valet. which is around twenty to twenty five bucks, and very slow. also, the next morning when we were getting ready to leave, i pulled back the bedskirt to discover old fries still on the floor from someone who had stayed there prior to us. so, that was gross. but, i would recommend this hotel to someone."

"Great value for the money. Right next to the MARTA station. Very frindly helpful staff. Only negative is they don't have a continental breakfast and there is no onsite parking. They offer valet parking for $22 a day. There is a garage down the street for $15day during the week and $6day on weekends. Also the air conditioner is very loud. The benefits outweigh the negatives and I would stay here again."

"The hotel is beautiful. It is one of the best values we have found in Atlanta. The beds are not as comfortable as some other hotels, but they are large and comfy just the same. The customer service of every one there is fabulous, some of the best we have experienced. Parking is bit pricey, but seems in line with the surrounding hotels that charge more. The hotel restaurant wasn't to our liking; however, there is an abundance of eating options just feet away. The hotel has a wine tasting in the bar every night which was really nice. We highly recommend the hotel for business or pleasure trips."

However, the excellent customer service and attention to detail by the staff, as well as the overlooking view of Peachtree Street and the rich history of the hotel, overcame my initial hesitations. The staff seems determined to compete with the larger, more elaborate hotels surrounding it, and we enjoyed a delightful meal on the Terrace (hotel restaurant) while watching the horses and carriages transport people below us. A lovely weekend getaway!"

"We live north of Atlanta. We met some family members for a birthday celebration at the Hard Rock which was a block away. Then we took Marta to the Braves game. Marta station right next door. The hotel is small including the rooms, but everything was great. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Security was great. You have to have a room key to go up on the elevator and to get in the hotel itself after 10PM. Another kudo for the location; There was a Starbucks a block and a half down the street. Valet parking $22 - only ouch."

The staff had run out, but they left the hotel and came back with a razor for me within minutes, without charge. About a half dozen pillows on the large comfortable bed. Flatscreen TV. A robe hanging in the closet. Great view of the city. The Ritz Carlton was right across the street. I've stayed in the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco and this hotel was every bit as nice. And I payed the same price as I paid for a fleabag in South Dakota."

1. Be prepared to be harassed by panhandlers when stepping outside of the hotel. However, this is a problem with with any downtown hotel in Atlanta. Ellis needs to improve in keeping the derelicts out of the perimeter of the hotel, 2. The workout room is tiny."

"We stayed over a weekend and found the rooms luxurious while right around the corner from a MARTA station and with several other major hotels within walking distance. This hotel offers a boutique ambiance for people who have to attend conferences nearby but don't like to be in huge hotels. (We cannot speak to families traveling with children in our review.) Great restaurants in the area including a 24 hour diner and a corner bakery cafe. Complimentary wine tastings every evening, a new menu focused on locally-grown, seasonal produce, and a cheerful and helpful staff all greeted us at the Ellis. The history of the hotel is very compelling - it is the location where a major revision of hotel codes began that then had an impact on every hotel in the nation, worth reading about if you are interested in local history after the Civil War. The Ellis thrives in the heart of Atlanta and would be part of a memorable, relaxing stay in the city."

We were on the 7th floor and heard alot of noise from the street, too. Now, the good. It is a beautiful hotel with very nicely appointed rooms. No refrigerator, but that was OK. It is close to good eating places and has a nice restaurant and bar internally. It is close to the aquarium and to Olympic Memorial Park. While not in the best part of town, we did not feel unsafe walking around in the area. Overall a nice place to stay."

The location was ideal for our trip. We could walk to most of our destinations, including the Georgia Aquarium.
We had breakfast at the restaurant and sat out on the terrace. The view was great and the food was good but, nothing exceptional. The downsides were the small room (big bed, though), the small "rain" shower head (I was expecting a downpour and got a light sprinkle), and the very expensive overnight valet parking ($22 a night). On the whole, the style of the hotel and the helpful staff made up for the slight shortcomings."
