After an initial shake with colour of lifts and breakfast style, experienced a great time with spacious room, kind personnel and the most important Premium Location just across the street. Aston is very friendly if you come wih kids - a protected from waves beach will made for the little ones unforgivable vacations.

"We spent our one night at Waikiki here. I chose it for it's proximity to the beach, which was great. It is an easy walk across the street. I think, though, now that I've seen the neighborhood and surrounding hotels, I'd pay the same price for a nicer hotel another block away. The Aston was clean, people were very nice, free breakfast by the pool was lovely with a talented accoustic guitarist, BUT it was crowded and some elevators weren't working and the few that were did a poor job of accomodating the numbers of people. And you don't want to take the stairs every time if you're on the 21st floor!!! Our room was tight for the 4 of us, but the beds were comfy and the room was clean."

"The hotel is beautiful and very well decorated. It almost sells itself--ALMOST! Then you meet the staff and the lack of customer service. One major problem with this hotel is that the the bell staff and valet staff play double duty. This causes MAJOR backups in the garage. On a routine basis I would call from my room 10-15 minutes before going to the valet to get my car only to still have to wait an additional 40-50 minutes for my car to pull up. ALMOST AN HOUR WAIT WAS THE NORM! This is not good if you have appointments to make certain attractions on the island. Also, if you like being called "Bra" instead of "Mr. Such and Such" you will be at home. The front desk is equally as poor with customer service and was very unaccommodating. I was in town for a triathlon and had a $7000 bike that I wanted to store in a secure location. The lady behind the counter informed me that bikes were not allowed on the property and that I had to park it on the street. Calling all bikers! Does this appeal to you and your race needs? I think not. Later after talking with the hotel manager arrangements were made to keep it behind in the office (where it was maladjusted after being tuned for the race!) The maid service...well if they get to your room by 3pm you should feel fortunate. Honestly it is a crying shame, because this property is beautiful and in a perfect location on Waikiki, but the staff kills this place. Don't stay here."

"The good: the hotel location is perfect. Right on Waikiki, and close to a lot of stuff. The bar (Tiki's) is excellent, and has a pretty happening nightlife and a bunch of free entertainment. For the price, this is an excellent hotel. The free breakfast, although somewhat of a "cattle call," is very nice to have. This can be worth quite a bit of money, considering prices in Honolulu. Throw in a free cooler, and it's an even better deal. They had some free entertainment at breakfast (hula dancer), which was a really nice touch.
The not-so-good. The place is crowded (not surprisingly), so getting around can be bumpy. Mostly it's the small things, but they can be irritating. The elevators are slow, crowded, and you feel like you're waiting for a NY subway train to arrive. The internet didn't work, and the staff offered little help on that. Overall, a really great hotel considering the location and price."

"We only stayed one night. The desk clerk changed our "standard room" which would have been on the 4th floor and put us on the 18th floor. We had a fantastic view of Waikiki and the ocean. We visited the Honolulu Zoo which was in walking distance from the hotel. We were in walking distasnce of the International Marketplace as well as other beautiful sights along the avenue. We found no problems with the hotel, staff or our room. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others."

The hotel itself was really nice and the staff was nice too. Maintenance did try to help me with the ac. The view was great and the location is hard to beat. Convenient to food and all of Waikiki fun. I think they rate a 4 star."

"When we first checked in, the toilet was broken. After a several hour wait after calling the front desk, we went to the front desk to complain. The toilet was fixed after another 3 hour wait. Fresh towels were never given unless we went to the front desk. I understand the "environmental friendly" hotels but 5 days with the same towels gets pretty funky. The location is great. The beach is right across the street. Breakfast is a cattle call. If you are not there at 6:30 AM, they will run out of food. The food is tolerable at best. If no maintenance is done to the hotel soon, this will have to fight for a 1 star rating. The elevators are in a sad state. The rooms are showing a lot of wear. My opinion is find another hotel."

"As I had read with numerous review of Waikiki hotels, the rooms are VERY small and after 3 nights we (family of 4) were ready to check out. Also, the elevators were horrible. You needed your key to go up, but they didn't explain how to use it and a lot of the time it didn't work.
With all that said, the location was excellent - right on the beach but far enough away from the nightlife noise. All is in walking distance. The breakfasts were very convenient, especially being able to pack it up for an excursion. Wolfgang Puck's Express restaurant right downstairs was a great place to pick up pretty inexpensive food. We needed extra towels in our room, and the service was very fast.
I would definitely recommend this hotel"

This Hotel is in a great location. the rooms were clean and a little on the small side but not bad for two people. there are plenty of place to eat.( for all budgets) Overall you get exactly what they advertise. the morning breakfast is ok much better than your standard continental. the only thing that I had to complain about is the rooms can be noisy( the doors opening and closing) Also be aware of the 22.00 dollars a day charge for parking. hope this helps"

"We just returned from a weeks vacation in Hawaii, 4 nights spent at the Aston Waikiki Beach. The hotel is in a great location, at the end of the strip right across the street from the beach. It's convenient to everything, but off to one side so it's a little less busy. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, with a nice balcony. The air conditioning wasn't the strongest (it worked better at night than during the day), but we weren't often in the room in the middle of the day so we didn't really mind. They have a small but pretty good gym (both cardio equipment and free weights). The pool is small, but well located so it gets plenty of sun. Plenty of restaurants nearby with a variety of food options. All this, with the bonus of a great rate made this a more than satisfying hotel option during out stay."

"Every time I asked for my car, it took FOREVER. One day I asked what the problem was, and his reply was, we have over 50 cars to many. NOT my problem. If I have to Valet my car, I expect reasonable service and at this price, I should have parked it in another parking structure and walked, it would have been faster and maybe cheaper.
Every morning we waited and waited and waited for an elevator that had room for, 1,2,3 or for the 4 of us, so we could go down to the lobby. Everyday we took the stairs. UNEXCEPTABLE. The last day we had not water to shower with. they sent us up to the top floors to shower, the first room had NO water. So back down to the front desk and back up again. I now have to travel to Honolulu every Quarter on business, BUT I won't be staying here, FOR SURE."

You may not want to limit yourself to the Waikiki area; it is a very busy tourist area. Not my cup of tea, perhaps it is yours. North, East and South shore of the island would be a quieter area. "We brought our three year old and it was right across from the lagoon where there was no waves that was really nice. We paid for the upgrade to oceanview and it was all worth it the night we caught the sun setting over the ocean it was awesome.our room was 17th floor above the tiki bar so it got loud on Friday and Saturday but with the traffic you hear every night anyways it didn't bother me I just left the tv on all night. Breakfast was ok, not fancy like a hilton but way better then a regular continental breakfast."

"The old name was still on the building and on the rental car maps so it made it hard to find.
We weren't prepared for valet parking"
