Stayed here for a week for our honeymoon in October 2009. LOVED every minute of it. We enjoyed a greeting with leis, cool wet towel and refreshing water, snacks and drinks @ the Beach Bar, breakfast buffet every morning on the veranda, 2 days of spa services and an ocean front room with balcony. Even with local construction, it was such a beautiful experience. This is our go-to hotel for Oahu!

Craig, Harry, Brian, and the rest of the Banyan Beach Bar crew...love you guys and miss my special iced coffee drinks. There is something about the ambiance there that keeps one coming back. I have the watercolor painting ready to be framed. Hope to see you before November. Aloha, my brothers and sisters.

Aloha Moana. Thanks for another relaxing stay. I had a blast at the beach bar (Chris, & Peter are the best!!!). I took advantage of the spa and received a great pedi from Yanti (a real sweety), and spent the day relaxing in the spa facilities. I look forward to another return visit.

"Easily the most beautiful hotel in Waikiki, a combination of classic elegance, Hawaiian charm, and oceanfront romantic beauty. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating, our room was large and attractive, and the setting was just extraordinary. We could not have been happier and will return there every time we go to Honolulu."

"Our party took 2 rooms; one in the beautifully restored original wing (the oldest grand hotel in Waikiki) and the other in one of the newer additions. The room in the original hotel faced Waikiki Beach and afforded a gorgeous view of the beach and Diamondhead. The other room was located on the streetside of the hotel and provided a wonderful view of the stately facade of the hotel and bustling, hustling Kalakaua Avenue. The difficulties mentioned by some other reviewers regarding street noise were not a problem in our streetside room. Both rooms were furnished with tasteful decor and very comfortable beds. The hotel staff and entertainment in the Banyan Courtyard were consistently very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the streetside porch above the entranceway and people watching from the large koa wood rocking chairs. The Moana, of course, has a very rich history and we enjoyed the many exhibits on display just one floor above the lobby. Staff apparently give hour-long guided tours of the hotel several days per week but unfortunately for us the tour was not scheduled on the night we spent there. Maybe next visit. We had a very pleasant and memorable stay."

Review Text: We stayed at this hotel two years ago and were very satisfied. We told all of our friends and family what a great hotel it was. Many of them stayed at this hotel since our recommendation. We were completely disappointed with our last stay and all of the changes since our last trip. Front desk was rude and argumentative when we had a problem with our room. The beach barrestaurant was under construction and was unbearably loud, you could not enjoy the view with a jack hammer next to you. This would require you to run away to another island location until later in the evening only to find tables reserved when you came back so you would need to go to another hotel to enjoy the sunset. The beach front chairs were rented for $30-$40 per day so what was the point of staying at the ocean front hotel and paying $300 per night when you have to rent your chair. I recommend staying at a less expensive hotel because paying the price to stay ocean front didn't matter because you couldn't enjoy the ocean front atmosphere of this hotel. Employees didn't seem to care if guests were happy or not"

"This is a top notch hotel.
The oldest hotel on Waikiki, and one of only 3 actually right on the beach. The hotel is old, but they have done a great job updating and maintaining it.
The breakfast buffet was great. A little pricey, but that's what you expect at such a nice place especially bc you're on Waikiki Beach."

"Paid for oceanfront room on Diamond Head side of hotel wtwo beds, they said they had none when we checked in (these had balconys) except for a handcapped equipped room, so I took it. Ended up having no balcony, but the room was way bigger than the ones with balconies because it had to have room for a wheelchair. Plus it was a corner unit, oceanfront, with nice big windows. Parking was $25day for valet, so we only rented the car 4 days out of 8. Much cheaper to rent car from airport and go on your own than take "tours". Everything was almost perfect until the last 2 days when a very loud guest checked in next door and got up at 5am each morning and talked very loud on his cellphone for 2-3 hours before leaving for breakfast. I complained loudly in our room the one morning and he shut up, but it didn't work the second day, he had a companion at that point who was as loud as him. There were a bunch of weddings, but they didn't really keep us from doing what we wanted. The rocking chairs on the porch were great to sit on and watch the crowds of people when we were too tired to go anymore. Didn't eat at the hotel, bought muffins for breakfast at the ABC store across the street and a bunch of drinks for the fridge, then would eat a late lunchearly dinner. Cheesecake Factory is down the street but go early, the wait at dinner was over an hour. We had no trouble getting in for lunch. Taxi from airport to hotel was $38 for a 7 mile drive. Bus cost $9 per person but we had to wait so they cut it to $7."

"I stayed for 10 days with my 3 daughters. We booked an ocean front room and were upgraded to a suite because my husband is a starwood platinum member which I thought was a lovely start. wrong.
We were in the tower facing the ocean on the right side next to the Outrigger hotel. The first night we could hear...

"My husband and I stayed for a week in July and it was perfect. The hotel is charming, yet it has all the ammenities you expect of a Westin. It is worth it to splurge on the ocean front room, the view is amazing at night. The food at the restaurant on property is a little pricey, but good. The...

"We stayed at the Moana for the second time to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Based on our previous stay, we wanted to stay again in the Banyon wing (we really loved the historic feeling of the wing), but wanted a larger room. We paid with a combination of points and cash, and then paid an additional fee to guarantee an...

"I really wanted to like this hotel, but I didn't. The open lobby is awesome because you can hear the water and feel the breeze inside of the hotel. The view of the water from the rocking chairs on the waterfront was nice. Beachfront access, indeed (but for some reason, the gate was locked). I booked an oceanfront room in...

"A close friend was getting married at the Moana and since I was part of the bridal party, I figured it was easiest to stay at this hotel. And not that that was a bad thing! The hotel has a great location right next to all the Waikiki shopping and it also has beach front access. The architecture of the...

"We arrived early from a 10hr flight and our room wasnt ready, happy to wait..
I mentioned that I needed somewhere to quickly get changed ( bathroom etc). The nice girl at front desk informs us that we can use a day room, fully fitted room (no bed) but with shower, amenities, lounge etc, we used for 20 mins (free),...

"The cocktails sitting outside under the banyan tree in the open air barrestaurant were delicious and large! We spent a very happy labour day afternoon here. However we had to change rooms because our room with a balcony was right above a huge luau set up outdoors for some conference guests. It was so loud the windows rattled so we...

"My husband I frequently stay as this hotel although we love it (which keeps us coming back), there are a few things that are disappointing. Firstly, even though we stay at this hotel every year, they never seem to have a record of this, so there is no sense of being 'welcomed back" to the hotel. This would...
