"Stayed 3 nights last week. Ground Zero for beach and street activities. Was actually pleasantly suprised our "City view" room had a very good ocean view from our lanai. And excellent view of street and mountains. Room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, and made you feel like it was a vacation. On site eating choices excellent and varied. Bathroom was really small, and had a little issue wthermostat control one night, but certainly not a deal breaker. We were very satisfied with the Outrigger."

"My wife and I were disappointed in this hotel. All the hotels on Waikiki were on top of each other, and your balcony could easily look into your neighboring hotels balcony. The beach itself was crowded, the pool area looks like a motel pool, and the rooms had paper thin walls that could hear every noise from the hallway or next door. It seemed they had 2 elevators for the entire building. There were times when we felt we were on South Beach and not Waikiki with all the Neon Lights, Cabs and People in the Street. My wife and I drove to the North Shore, and that felt much more like a vacation... we wish we had enough warning not to stay on Waikiki, and instead, book a resort on the North Shore. If you are coming from Maui, be ready for a shock... it is very crowded and conjested on the South Side as any large city on the mainland around Waikiki."

"The location is great, right on the sand and close to shops, restaurants, etc. The service was substandard for a "high-end" hotel. We had a city view room and it was a bit noisy, traffic noise and the room walls are very thin so if you have a noisy neighbor you will hear them. They gave us bottled water the first day but then not after that (cheap!) We had to call down to get more coffee cups and then they did not arrive. The maid service was not good. She did a minimal clean up. If we did not throw things away then she did not clean up. We still might stay there in the future but we will look around."

"Overall hotel service is good; however, there are two departments that require major improvement: 1) conceirge; and 2)beach cabana. The conceirge was the most unwilling and unhelpful gentleman that I've ever encountered. The beach cabana where beach umbrellas, chairs, and lounges are supplied had a gentleman working who was more interested in supplying equipment to outside companies than guests. To the point, that there was no available equipment by 9am for Hotel guests."

"My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend (4 nights) in January and had a great time. The hotel's central location on Waikiki is very convenient, both from a walking the beach standpoint and a shopping standpoint. I have to say, being right on the beach, vs. walking across the street or walking a few blocks, was really, really nice! We were next door to the Royal Hawaiian open air shopping mall and the Cheesecake Factory, which doesn't really interest me in regards to food, but they tend to have great live Hawaiian music shows for free. We also walked to Rainbow Drive In, away from the touristy strip, for some fabulous local food. Chili rice, anyone? Yum! All the hotel staff we encountered from the moment of arrival to our departure were very nice - the aloha spirit is alive here! It was also nice to have Duke's and the Hula Grill right in the hotel. Duke's seemed to have musical entertainment most every night. Sometimes more traditional Hawaiian music, sometimes a happy hour party on the patio with a little more rockin' music. The deal we had included breakfast at our choice of Duke's or Hula Grill (sister restaurants) and they were both good. My only "complaint" is that we were trying to be eco-conscious and re-use our bath towels, (we hung them up to indicate such as the hotel suggested) but the woman tending to our room kept replacing them each day anyway! But I think she was just trying to be nice."

The ocean view rooms are wonderful to view the sunset at night while being serranaded by music from Duke's Bar and Grill down on the 1st floor of the hotel. The hotel has a great pool overlooking the ocean and umbrellas if you prefer to sit out on the beach. There are two restaurants with wonderful food with enough variety for the entire family. There is also a Seattle's Best Coffee shop in the hotel and a deli for take out back to your beach chairs. The hotel is located right across the street from the International Market Place and close to lots of shopping and dining experiences. The service at the hotel is great and they are all friendly. "I will start with the not so good, then let you know the good. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the head valet, who we gave a tip. Then he showed us to the front desk, and had the bell boy take our luggage to our room (we gave him another tip), then we had requested a crib for our baby and it was delivered a few minutes after our luggage, and when we didn't instantly give the guy a tip, he basically stormed out, as we said thank you and his response was "yeah." A couple days later I was standing by the bell desk (they must not have seen me standing there) because a few employees were talking about guests they had just "buttered up" (sounded like plain customer service), by telling them about a restaurant, but the guest's "hand just stayed in their pocket" - so the employee was complaining about not receiving a tip. I realize tipping is a nice courtesy these days, but it just seemed like every time you turned around, the employees had their hands out wiating for a tip. Also, there is still noisy construction going on, so it interrupts a nice morning by the pool. Good: Live music every night, Starbucks downstairs, and the restaurant has good food."

"Was there in mid April 2009. It's a great place to stay, maybe the best location on the beach. We upgraded to an ocean front view, cost more but worth it if you want to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. The people at the hotel were very very nice. The food is really good !!! Dukes is a very popular place to eat, it opens up to the beach and the food is just great. I vote Duke's as the best cheese burger on earth. You can go to the walkup bar and order food to go if you want to take it back to your room. The Hula Grill also at the Outrigger has excellent food too. The hotel's location my be the best on the beach. It's withing walking distance of lot's of shopping locations, not to far to the zoo and aquarium (I thought Honolulu would have a better aquarium... you will not miss much if you skip it). If you want to travel around the island, the hotel can arrange a car at a very good price. The only negative would be that you could hear noise from the next door rooms... I am sure if it was too loud, the hotel could put you on another floor... our room's noise wasn't that bad, and the view and location more than made up for a little noise...... location, location, location.... and very friendly staff"

"Upon check-in we received a free upgrade to a partial ocean view room. Check-in staff was very courteous and took only a few minutes. Room was very nice and the hotel's location is excellent (one of only a few hotels right on the beach, most are across the street or further from the water). Only ate at a hotel restaurant once (Chuck's Steakhouse) but it was very good. Usually ate out on the town or while touring. Paul at the Activities Center helped set up our schedule for the week so we had something special to do everyday. When we asked to change rooms because of noisy infants next door we were promptly moved to a new room (still with free partial ocean view) which had a much better view than the first room. Entire staff was courteous and helpful throughout."
