Imperial Palace. Right in the middle of the strip across from Caesars... it's affordable and within walking distance of all the major Casino's. The gambling is fine for when you're ramping up to hit the bigger Casinos and when you get back from a night out and still want a fix. I've stayed there 3 out of the 4 times I've been and it's prefect. Not fancy, not a name and no bells and whistles BUT, you're never in the room anyhow so who cares? --> In response to: Question for all those who have been to the place where whatever happens there, stays there.....what hotel have you stayed at and do you recommend it?

"Very well located on LAS VEGAS strip close to all famous casinoshotels and direct access to the Monorail. Hotel is clean well maintained and bathrooms are very clean. If you have to go to this hotel try to avoid a room on the strip, you will hear music all night long. If I have to go back to Vegas I will definitely go back there, you cannot find something better for the same price."

"Between a hotels.com coupon and an Imperial Palace (IP) special package, my 3 night stay was an unbelievable deal. Though not fancy, my room was clean and fairly quiet, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine, furnishings pleasant. The IP location is great - center strip with the monorail within easy walking distance at the back. There is definitely an issue with congestion and delays at times on the main elevators at IP but there is a separate bank of elevators serving floors 6-19 by the keno booth and for my room on the 15th. floor mid-week these elevators were never busy. The IP is owned by Harrah's, get their Total Rewards comp card at the service desk good for additional savings at IP, Caesar's, Bally's, Flamingo, Paris, Rio and others. The IP is an older facility with lots of nooks and crannies. Dining facilities are very limited, you probably won't find any emperors at their Emperor buffet but for peasants its a quick basic fill up at a reasonable price. If you want luxury and something exotic go elsewhere, if you want great value and are happy with basics the IP is a good choice. The IP staff were all friendly and helpful."

"I stay at the Imperial Palace because it is at the Center of the Strip and it's the cheapest. There are a lot of young people who stay there and it is a very up beat atmoshpere. If you are looking for an elegant hotel, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a hotel on the strip, just to use to sleep in, you can't go wrong with the Imperial Palace."

"wow, i was expected a much nicer hotel but of course it wasn't the greatest. I really found it interesting the elevators took thiry or more minutes just to open dont know what was going on that day but it look like a train station in the stt stair wells. it was much faster taking the stairs than the elevators. thank goodness i was on the eighth floor so it wasn't that bad but imagine with all the suitcases. it was a little difficult. would have much rathered stayhed somewhere else. in addition they didnt have a non-smoking room when i booked a non-smoking room."

"We went all over Las Vegas and to several different hotels. Although some hotels may have been nicer and classier, the Imperial palace was the place to be. They constantly had free entertainers in the casino, that were unbelievable. When they are conventions all the people that come to Las Vegas stay at the Imperial Palace, so the hotel was always full of excitement. There was also karaoke nightly, and places to eat. The price was unbelievable cheap as well! I would definetly recommend the Imperial."

"Our experience at this hotel went from bad to horrible in the course of about two hours. First of all it took us almost one hour to check in, at 1:30 in the morning. Second, we had to walk 6 flights of stairs because we waited over 20 for the elevator and it never came. Then once in the room, the horror really began. The rugs were terribly stained and our sheets were stained with blood, yes blood. The restroom smelled like a public restroom, and the hotel staff put us next to a very very noisy ice maker and then claimed there were no more rooms available. We couldnt even sleep, the mattress was so bad, my wife and I laid down and both sank right to the middle of the mattress. The room was so nasty, we didn't even shower there the next morning. We checked out almost as soon as the sun arose. We would have been better off sleeping in our car. Honestly. The hotel we checked in to that next morning was a breath of fresh air, Ill give you a hint, it's on Tropicana west of the strip and it has a Mardi Gras type of theme."

Room service is not that good, for the length of our stay the housekeeper only cleaned our room once. If you will stay out more rather than be at the hotel then it's a great value for your money."

"great location and not a bad price for where it is at on a saturday night. but they don't seem to be in very much of a rush, or care that you just want to check in to your room. we arrived at 11:30 pm on saturday night and waited in a 2 hour line at the reservation desk while only 1 or 2 people at a time checked people in. and each check in seemed to take an eternity. not kidding - 2 hours later - we got into our room. rather unacceptable. the room was comfortable, although do be aware - it is a worn hotel. bottom line - if you need something for a short time - we crashed there that night because we had to get up early to work a show, and then immediately moved to the mirage - it is a cheap stay for something very short. that is your best bet. go there instead"

Had to get a room here because of a mix-up in the reservation for my timeshare. I would've been better off sleeping @ the airport until check-in time for my timeshare the next day. I felt like I needed to bathe in hand sanitizer after staying here. Please don't book a room here. You will definitely regret it."

"We stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and figured we'd give it a try again. Bad thought. Nothing has been updated. Our view - the concrete wall of the parking garage next door! We were seventh on line for check-in and it took 30 minutes for us to get to the check-in desk. There had to be 20 to 25 check-ins behind us. Supervisors walked behind the check-in desk but pretended not to see the huge line. That gave us a bad taste from the getgo. Two of six elevators weren't working the whole time we were there. Our room was on the 5th floor and I believe there were 17 floors in our tower. Getting an elevator to take us down in the morning took forever because by the time the elevator stopped at our floor it was full with people and their luggage. The two ice machines on our floor weren't working. We had to go to another floor to obtain ice. Oh, yeah, there was one nice thing - the shower head is one of the better ones I've found in any hotel. Bottom line, get your rooms at another hotel."

"Arrived mid afternoon in the middle of summer 110 degrees outside and hotelcasino air conditioners not working. Felt like a swamp while standing in line with 50 other people to check-in. Hotel had three elevators to the upper level rooms... two of which were out of service. Elevators smaller than average and packed because only one was working. Air conditioning in room worked "OK". No lock on bathroom door. Sign on inside of room door states that upon checkout, inventory is taken of the room's contents and if any items are found to be missing, authorities will be contacted. Loud live band played music all night right out side our window. Music was good but not conducive to sleep.
Location was great, the only thing applealing about this place. Will not be back here again."

"Without going into too much detail, the hotel has certainly seen better days. The staff were mostly friendly; however, we had a problem with water draining out of our shower and had maintenance in our room twice to try to fix it. They managed to fix the toilet and the sink, but the shower kept backing up almost immediately when in use. This meant that after 2 minutes of showering, we were standing in water up to our calves. The hotel made no real attempt to fix this and didn't offer to move us or reimburse anything. Strangely, partway through one of the showers, all of the water completely drained, but then built up again, leading me to think that the pipes are being overused by too many people at once. Like I said, this hotel has seen better days and won't house me or my family in the future."

"we got to the hotel only to be denied parking until we checked in... valet was full. and the weather outside was probably 112 degrees. the attendants in the parking lot gave attitude and told us there was nothing he could do until we went into the hotel and checked in and got a parking permit. half of the car had to wait in the hot parking lot while the rest of us went inside the hotel to check in. this process took close to forever and one check in lady kept skipping guests and taking customers out of order which left many guests including my party unhappy."

"First off, if you're looking to stay on the strip for cheap, this is the place. Everything about it is average and a little outdated. Our entire room was decorated off-whitepink and smelled strongly of butter. Definitely not the lap of luxary. You have to walk about a mile from where you park your car to the front desk (literally across the entire complex). The casino level is decent and offers $5 blackjack, which is nice for us low rollers. Staff was a little cold. If you just need a place to crash on the strip, this will do fine. Don't try to impress anyone, though..."

"This was an amazing deal and an amazing location. Elevators weren't as confusing as previous posts made it out to be; I just listened to the hotel staff about which one to use! :-) The parking garage was minorly confusing (but what isn't off two hours of sleep!)... I would suggest using the complimentary hotel valet for convenience. Location is amazing on the strip. There was a constant line for check-in each time I walked past the lobby, but even with a 'pretty long' line when I arrived I was checked in within a half hour. Highly suggest this place if you're looking just for a bed to sleep in while you patrol the strip!"

"The staff of the hotel was very friendly. The pool view from our room balcony was great. The room was VERY clean and comfortable and the location was central to everything!!
The free show at the buffet was very good.
Good Job I.P.!!"

"The Imperial Palace is located right in the middle of the strip, making it easy to walk to any other casino, the various shopping locations, restaurants, etc. The room itself was large, clean, and comfortable. I'd suggest unloading all your baggage at the front door before taking the car to the back to park just because the check in table is right at the front so you don't have to drag your belongings across the partking lotcasino floor (or you could just use valet). Also, everyone should stop by the Burger Palace at somepoint and enjoy a late night bite to eat. Dealers at the blackjackcraps tables were very fun to play with. Joked back with our group and were willing to explain what to do in given situations, which was a plus for a novice gambler like me. Overall, I had a great time staying here and plan on staying there again next time I'm in Vegas. You can't beat the pricelocation combo that the IP offers."

"Took 20 minutes to get up the elevator, 4 of 6 were not working. There was a huge cricketgrasshopper in the room. The floors are stained. the hotel is stuffy. The people staying there are nasty. Ghetto."

"If you are looking for good hotel deal, then look in the deal section. Do not pay full price for this hotel.
The room overall was boring, the window looked out over the parking garage (you could see sky but nothing else). I had to call for a frig to store my meds. trying to take a shower was frustrating with low water pressure. Waiting for the elevators took 10 minutes average.
The good part was the monorail system. The station was behind the hotel, and a nice walk."

"The room smelled. The bathtub floor was dirty. The drain was also clogged. We had a bad view of the parking garage. The elevators took a long time as well as registration desk took almost about an hour. The only thing good about the hotel was the price"

"The location of the hotel was perfect. Literally right in the middle of the strip and if you didnt want to walk down to either end the tram was also in the hotel. The rooms were a little on the small side but fine, we dont usually stay in our room the whole time, and the beds really were comfy.
Problem: we come back to our room one night to change and freshen up for our dinner reservations that night and our key isnt working. i go down tell the front desk and he gives me another key as he blames me for the key not working. New key still doesnt work. go back down stairs, he says he will send someone up. An hour and a half later we get into our room the battery was dead on our door. no apologizes for the inconvenience, no comps, no nothing!
and they charged me an extra $5 a night for no reason!
pretty upset with this place! WONT GO BACK"

"The hotel was great and the room was nice. BUT only one elevator working the whole time. We would wait an average of 13 mins or more for a elevator. Due to only one working we would have to wait sometimes for a second or third elevator because they would be filled to capacity.
Also the pool closes too early! With the heat you would think they could allow extra time to swim and cool off."

"We have stayed at the Imperial Palace numerous times and had a wonderful stay. This time it was horrible. We requested the Delux Luv Tub room and when I went to use the tub, there was mold on the surrounding area and on the shower curtain. We opted for another room and the next one was not much better. The cleanliness or lack thereof, is disturbing. The buffet was very disappointing for the price, and wheb we ate at the burger place in the hotel, we had to throw our food away it was so bad. Seems to us that they have let this hotel run down so bad and the staff doesn't care. We will not be staying here anymore, which is ashame, it was our "little getaway" for years."

"The fire alarms went off most of the two night we stayed there. The first two times when i heard the alarm, I got dressed and waited for the announcement that came over the loud speaker through the hallways telling us an alarm was detected and we should stay in our rooms until it is checked out and until further directions are given. Thank god they were all false alarms but this was very distruptive as such, as i was trying to relax and got very stressed out until we found out it was not a fire. When i talked to some people the next day, they stated this happens all the time"

"The rooms are standard and in need of minor renovations. Typical for an older Vegas hotel. Lighting in the rooms is limited. The swimming pool closes between 5:00 and 5:30, so forget about leaving your kids by the pool while you gamble. Most of the California Indian Casino's have more slots and tables than the IP."
