"We have stayed in NYC many occaisions before, but in mid-town or on the West Side. This was first occaision on East Side. Relatively quiet location - no tour buses, no kids marching bands sitting in the lobby, Very low-keyquiet. Converted apartment bldg-no pool, no lounge, no pizzazz. Appears our room was renovated 2-3 years ago. We rec'd upgrade to a Junior Suite - very large w dining tablechairs pull-out queen-sofa, coffeeend tables. No flat screen, no HD TV, no evidence of wifi. Good place to relax-decompress. Accomodating doorman. Near United Nations bldg- very international neighborhhood-100 places to eat within walking distance. My wife wants to return."

"I have stayed in many NYC hotels. This hotel is more like an apt building. Rooms are big, and clean. The rooms DON'T have the flat screen, DON'T have the flashy shower door, and some of the upgrades many significantly more expensive hotels have. And to me, I dont care. Im a business traveler and need a clean quiet, and comfy placy. There is no doubt,I will go back and back (if they keep it priced right). The Location is great (plenty of pubs on 3rd, Pizza, Curry, etc...) and walking distance to Grand Central in 5 minutes. BOOK IT."

I did not really use any amenities - did not need to - so I can't comment on those. The one time I did need something from housekeeping (towels), the woman at the desk asked if I needed them immediately which I thought was odd, but overall, I was pleased."

The staff was friendly and very helpful...even to the point of going back to our room when we called them and getting a brownie out of the refrigerator that we had left there. The neighborhood was a great neighborhood. It was three blocks to Grand Central Terminal, so there was easy access to the subway. Our room was on the front of the hotel next to the street, so it was a little noisy at night. If you think that might be an issue for you, I would ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. I will definitely stay here again."
