Great location but this large hotel is in need of refurbishment. Heating struggling to get the room to 23C. Staff members are mostly pleasant and attentive.

Great location but starting to look a but tired. The revolving bar gives amazing views and ought to be one of the coolest places in town but hasn't been refurbed in at least 15 years and looks it. And rather than a nice restaurant or piano bar it has a serve yourself buffet. Who thought Pizza Hut was a good model?

"I loved the hotel. If you want to be "in" Times Square, this is the place to stay. We had a room on the 42nd floor. Riding the elevators was similar to some of the rides in an amusement park. Revolving lounge on the 47th floor was great. Friendly and prompt staff. The only problem I had with the hotel was as follows. Our room was on the 42nd floor and we were meeting friends in the revolving restaurant on the top floor. We had to take the elevator from the 42nd floor; down to the 3rd floor. And then take an elevator back up to the 47th floor. Not really a problem, but allow yourself some time. Overall, I would stay here again!"

"We enjoyed our stay at the marquis. We stayed on the 11th floor which i thought would be noisy, but it was surprisingly quiet. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The only negative was that the parking was $55day. Although the valet service was quick and easy so I guess you get what you pay for:) We would stay here again when we visit Times Square."

"Our room was beautiful and had an amazing view of Times Square(which required additional 50 dollars per day). There were some issues with the room that when brought to the attention of the hotel staff was not fixed or acknowledged at all. We made a call to the front desk and nothing ever happened. We had mildew in the shower tile and grout, bathroom door would not close and latch and a simple burnt out light bulb. When brought to managements attention at the end of the stay, we did not even recieve an " I am sorry". We weren't looking for anything but the hotel to take care of this issues."

"Wow! What a place to stay! The hotel staff is very friendly and exhibited prompt, courteous service: when my husband accidentally erased the combination to the in-room safe, a staff member was at our door within two minutes to assist us. This hotel is a very well-run, well-oiled machine with customer service at the forefront; they indeed had it down pat. Even after checking out, this hotel stored our luggage while we shopped in town then later promptly retrieved our luggage and quickly hailed a taxi for us. The highlight of our trip was checking out the revolving floor, called The View, on the 48th floor of this hotel where we saw different parts of the Manhattan skyline while sipping on drinks and eating fresh fruit, cheese and dessert - it was one of the more relaxing, fun things we did! We would definitely stay here again! We simply loved everything about it!"

"The hotel is pretty nice as long as you don't mind being at the epicenter of all tourist activity for NYC. My main problem and the reason I will NEVER stay at the hotel again, is that that the staff was working overtime to ensure that they were extra rude. By the way, I'm used to NY and I DO NOT think that NY'ers are rude at all. From the Starbucks employees, to the maids to the lobby bar severs to room service guys, everyone of them need to learn that they are in a service business and that their attitudes are much more important that all the advertising dollars in the world. I've had much better stays at the W on Lexington, The Raddison on Lexington, the Hudson Hotel and the Gansevoort."

We didn't use any service beyond that, so I can't comment. The room was supposed to be a "Times Square View." While it was a side view, it was quite acceptable. "I really liked the hotel location for the shopping experience and the ease of catching a taxi. The room was very hot and we had to call for maintenance to come and check the temp and the maintenance man had the nerve to tell us that our body heat was keeping the room was cooling down. I was there with my Mother to celebrate her 78th birthday, becuase she had never been to New York and she commented that she heard New York people were rude, but that comment was uncalled for. We plan on returning to New York again one day but not to stay at the Marriot. Also no microwave or frig in room. Very inconvenient for the money, or for those with kids, or someone taking medication that needs to be kept refrigerated."

"Was in town for the NCAA Big East Tournament. Would stay here again and have already recommended it. Front desk, Clovis, was excellent. She put us in nice room with a great view of Times Square. Thanks Clovis! Concierge was very helpful, everyone was very hospitable. Being from the south that was a big plus, southerners expect good service. Room was large compared to other hotels I've stayed in NY. Beds were comfortable, nice bathroom large TV. The only negative was the in-room dining. I don't care if it is NY but 2 bowls of oatmeal, pastries water should not cost $57! It wouldn't have been so painful if it had been good. But, the pastries were dry and stale, oatmeal tasted like wallpaper paste they brought the wrong type of bottled water. Food in restaurantbar wasn't much better. If you don't count the food - the hotel and service were great."

"Having stayed in several NY hotels in the recent past, we were delighted at how quiet and peaceful the room was on the 27th floor, despite overlooking Times Square. Quietest room we've ever had in NY. A small plus was high quality facial and bathroom tissue, where other hotels often skimp. Garage parking was pricey, but I could take out the car as often as I liked without paying all over again."

"Check in was a snap and location perfect. My gripe is with the add on expenses. Just when the hotels are screaming for business, Marriott, seemed to bilk us for every nickel and dollar they could get. I had some boxes shipped there and upon arrival was told shipping department needed $500 for me to get boxes. Now, had I known there was an expense to receive materials prior, I would not have then sent there. However, the year previous, I stayed at THE SAME location and received boxes without a fee. Even when making reservation, checked in with 800 number and told no worries, send them. Bait and Switch? It took more than an hour to "negociate" with the sales and customer service management team to strike a deal of $250, which was still a major rip off. The staff kept repeating the same words, over and over, about "all hotels do this". Well, I can tell you Marriott did NOT do this, last year, and three of my collegues, staying within the same block of Times Square had boxes deliverd to their hotels WITHOUT and fees whatsoever. I'll stay elsewhere next time. In the spirit of customer service, and due to tough economic times, and if this is a new policy, I would have comped the guest this fee and informed them next time, etc. etc. Now they have one very disgruntled former guest who will tell this story over and over and over. btw, I stay in hotels more than 50% of the year with national and global travel. Of which none, will include the Marriott. Hotels.com is great though..."

"The Marquis is huge, but based on my experience, extremely well run. The front desk staff was highly efficient, with a greeter usually steering guests in the direction of an available clerk. A very charming concierge gave us great restaurant recommendations two nights in a row. The housekeeping was excellent and the room was comfortable and quiet. The gym was well equipped, and while the attendant on one visit was borderline sullen, the other one was friendly, which was typical of the staff. My expectations are pretty high, at least for a hotel at this level, but they were all met and exceeded."

"The Marquis is a large and well-run hotel in the heart of the theater district. This used to be a somewhat dicey area but is now friendly and bustling even late at night. Food and drink are expensive, but there are a number of reasonable (for NYC) restaurants within a few blocks, and the lounge is comfortable if you don't mind paying 50% extra for a drink. The centralized elevator system takes some getting used to. Rooms on the upper floors, at least, are dead quiet despite the street traffic. "Time Square View" rooms do have spectacular views. Beds and pillows are comfortable, and the desk includes a stepped-down surface at the right height for a laptop. On the whole a very good place to stay in NYC."
