"From the moment I pulled up to the door until I drove away I was met with professional, polite, friendly service. This hotel is stunning and comfortable. A wonderful getaway in the middle of the city. The room was very small, but clean, organized and comfortable. After checking in I met friends in the lounge. Again the service was friendly and knowledgeable. In the morning I ate breakfast at Gracies. The food was wonderful and the service again was outstanding. I look forward to staying again."

"Having grown up in Portland I was familiar with this property in its former life. They have done a superb job in maintianing the character of the building while at the same time adding lots of charm. The staff is incredibly friendly without being effusive. The Driftwood bar harkens back to the early sixties and is a sliver of a room all dark and cozy with great libations. We literally staked out our home in the Driftwood room. The rooms, though small have roomy and sparkling bathrooms. The bed was beyond comfortable and I can say that they have the best bathrobes ever! We loved the location a liitle uptown from the central shopping area but a stones throw from the Pearl District. We will return!"

"Historic hotel with updated interior, black and white classic Hollywood photos in the halls and high ceilings. They offer conservation option of not changing linens and towels every day, but, you would never know it with the care which they remade my bed and folded my towels. From the time I arrived in the middle of the night to the time I checked out the staff was attentive and anticipated my needs. Example: the first night I got the worst room in the house - tiny, one window with wire reinforced glass that lead to the fire escape. The gentleman who brought me my room service said that the hotel was full and i got the last room, but, tomorrow rooms will free up and he would see that I was moved to another room. When I went to the desk the next morning to see if this was possible, they had already upgraded me to another room and handed me my new keys. Room service menu is small, but tasty and when I asked if they could fix something that was not on the menu they were happy to accommodate. If this property is booked up, their nearby sister hotel, Hotel Lucia has a more contemporary flair with the same attentive service."

The staff remembered our names from the moment we checked-in throughout our stay. We left our lap-top in our room, but were pleased the staff found the lap-top and everything was in order. The rooms are quite small, but the location, decor, service, and details make-up for this."

The location is walkable to a lot of vacation destinations, powell's books, restaurants and the train that goes to the japanese garden. The bed was great and the decor of the hotel feels very old hollywood. The only complaint I have is that in the morning there was a lot of road noise coming in from outside."

"We stayed at the Hotel DeLuxe on our honeymoon. The room was a little smaller than we expected (a little tight between the king bed and the dresser), but it was great. The bathroom was big and very clean with elegant fixtures. The room had great temperature control, and was furnished with a desk, closet, two bathrobes, iron, HDTV, guest safe, mini-fridge, and honor bar filled with drinks, snacks, and toiletries. The decor of the hotel and the room was great. The lobby was quite fancy with marble and glass and images of Hollywood's golden age. Our floor was filled with photographs of the same, and the theme continued into our room. The best part of this hotel though, is the staff. Everyone from the doormen to the manager was so very friendly and we never had to wait for someone to pick up the phone. 24 hour room service was fast, friendly, and high-quality."

The room service was excellent and very quick. They were very passionate about taking care of their guests. They made sure that my room was perfect and comfortating for me before i checked in. I have very bad allergies with feathers and they made sure that there were no feathers in my room at all. Especially when i asked for a body pillow they made sure I received the allergen free body pillow which was perfect. The room service menu was excellent as well. They had many different options for food which was perfect. Most hotels only have a limited menu for room service and this menu was excellent. My favorite was the Butter lettuce salad w creamy dressing pickled red onions, plus the butternut squash ravioli's with brown butter sauce. I would definetly stay at this hotel again when i travel to Portland. I loved it!!"

Hard to get between bed and dresser to go to bed. Had a deluxe king would hate to see a smaller room. There are an annoying amount of overpriced snacks, water, etc. for sale. The overpriced mini bar should suffice. The hotel might consider selling a few reasonable priced items which someone might actually buy. The parking charge was way too high and added 25% to the cost of the room. I will consider it if I decide to stay there again. The hotel is not in the dense part of downtown and should relax the parking fees."

"After reading a few other reviews, we decided to try the deLuxe. I liked that it was a little off the beaten path, but really only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown. We loved the bed-- way comfortable! The rooms were simple and the bathroom was extremely small, but really reminded me of European hotels. The staff were extremely courtious and helpful---very, very nice people! We loved the ornate decor in the public spaces. They did accomodate us when we wanted a room on an upper floor--it just happened to be next to the elevator, which I thought would be a problem. Actually, we really weren't in the room much during the day to hear it, and at night, it wasn't used as much. It really just became "white noise" and wasn't very noticeable at all. A great weekend getaway hotel!"

I had expected much much more than an outdated "Boutique Historical" hotel room. Wonderful service - truly professional staff - they are A. The staff was the high point. Location is not convenient. Sure the Max Light Rail Train passes right next to the hotel... you get to hear it, but it only stops about 4 blocks in either direction - try that on a rainy day. I'd stay here to watch a game because your close to PGE park - otherwise - try somewhere else."

"My wife and I stayed in the hotel deLuxe for a brief two-day trip to explore portland and the surrounding area. The stay was top notch! All of the staff were falling over themselves to be of any assistance. Valet service made parking easy. The front desk staff was friendly and responsive. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated with many top finishes. A few great features-- elevators are on 24-hour key-card access for safety-- only guests can use. Our room, while small, had a wonderfully comfortable bed, beautiful decorations, luxurious linens, and a great view of the city. The bathroom was simple, clean, and bright. A simple but neat feature- rooms contain i-pod dock alarm clocks, and the front desk will even bring up a pre-loaded ipod if you forgot yours while traveling! The location is easy to get to because it is slightly outside of the crowded downtown area. However, it is only a few blocks from the streetcar line and the max light rail, and many buses are available nearby-- we parked our car on arrival and never used it again until leaving! If you are planning a trip to Portland and want to stay at a top-notch hotel with access to what the city has to offer, hotel deLuxe is the place to be. We highly recommend it and would stay again in a heartbeat."

Still the room was very well maintained, clean, and the decor was nice and inviting. The walls were a little thin since I could hear the guest in the bathroom next door and I woke up to the sound of the city dumpster pick-up. But if you don't plan on spending a great amount of time in your room, I would definitely recommend it. We had some drinks at the Driftwood downstairs and they were the best drinks we had in Portland, period! Staff is very helpful and very accommodating as well."

"The hotel has been redone in the past 2-3 years. The decor is 30's to 50's Hollywood but with a modern flair. I loved it!! The service was great. We had cocktails in the bar. Great. We also had lunch in the restaurant and it was delicious!! The only thing was, I thought there was free parking and there wasn't. They do have valet parking for a fee or you can park in a garage near by for a fee, or directly on the street. I parked on the street and the parking was free because it was a Sunday and then Monday was a holiday."
