"Our room had a balcony so small you couldn't really even stand on it, let alone sit on it. You'd almost have to see it to believe. It was like a miniature balcony. We paid quite a bit for our room; we would have expected a bit better quality.
But, overall the location was excellent, staff was friendly and the hotel is very well maintained."

"The traffic noise was extreme. The parking garage directly across the street employs people capable of redefining the word: incompetence, and are perfectly content working at less than a snails pace. This frustrates everyone from those parking to those waiting in long lines down two separate streets, so everyones solution is to honk their horns. This horn honking begins around 6 AM and does not stop throughout the week including the weekend. Bus and truck noise is also a problem, but actually may have been enhanced by the fact that we could not sleep on the rock the hotel called a bed. And you would have thought we would have been tired enough to sleep considering the fact that there was only one working elevator anywhere near the wing of the hotel we stayed in due to an upgrade causing a fairly lengthy walk and wait for each and every entranceexit. Other than that, it was fabulous (for the benefit of the hotel management, that last comment was sarcasm)."

"For the money, the King Riverview room is really small. So bad in fact, we had to move furniture out of the way to get to the other side of the bed. The rooms are nicely appointed though, and the hotel staff is fantastic. After the first night on the polyester blend sheets (I personally don't like) I asked the hotel manager if I could upgrade rooms and get cotton sheets. He did not have a suite available, the only room left was the presidential suite. I upgraded, and got the sheets for an amazing price. He and the bell captain took care of everything while we were at dinner. Obviously that was a great room, and overall the experience was positive."

"My family has wanted to stay at this hotel for years, and we certainly weren't disappointed! The hotel is beautiful, and all of the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. When we first arrived, we asked for extra pillows and they were sent up immediately. We left to go to dinner, and when we returned, we had a message from the front desk making sure we had received our pillows. I was very impressed with that! The second day, I was having trouble with my room key, and within 5 minutes of reporting it to the front desk, a maintenance worker was at my door to help. The hotel is in the heart of the river walk, so the location is great. I can't wait to go back!"

"The room overlooked the riverwalk and the balcony was great, even though three rooms share a balcony. The room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. My only quibble is that the room was overwhelmed by the size of the bed. We were tripping over each other and the furniture the whole time we were there. Also, wireless interenet is not available in the room. The wired access worked fine (expensive) but we needed to have two computers on line at once for work and it couldn't be done. We were able to log onto the local San Antonio free wifi but there is a timer on it and we had to pay after 20 hours of being logged on. Most of the staff were attentive and helpful. The morning front desk guy didn't seem to care. When I asked if coffee would be available he told me it would be set up by 6:30 AM. The problem was that it was already 6:45 and it didn't seem illogical to him that he was telling me to wait until 6:30."

The hotel itself is very nice and the room was nice and quaint. Direct access to the busiest part of the Riverwalk was a plus. BUT--if you don't like to hear partying and hollering throughout the night--don't stay here!
During my 2 night stay the room was not cleaned by room service. I had to call the front desk to ask for clean towels, trash pick up service and fresh coffee pods. Not quite my idea of a 4-star hotel."

We sampled nearly everything on the menu. My two year old daughter fell in love with their breakfast menu and the pool. I know other guests mentioned in their reviews that the pool was too small, but I like it. The pool and small bar felf cozy. We walked the river walk almost every night and fell in love with downtown San Antonio. The only area that needed improvement is the air conditioners in the room. The air conditioner in our room was old and on it's last leg. Other than that...everything was wonderful!"

"We had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. We had booked this hotel for our 15th anniversary trip. We were given our room very quickly but were blown away by the smell of cigarette smoke and the chemicals used to cover it up. We immediately asked for a different room since we had requested a non-smoking room. Apparently all of the hotel is supposedly non-smoking. It took the bell hop forever to bring us a different key card for a different room which was one floor down from where we were. That room was worse than the first. By this time, my wife was having a serious allergy attack and was losing her voice. We decided it would be best to go back to the lobby and talk with the desk personnel in person. They tried to claim that they are a total non-smoking property. This is obviously not true since we had 2 rooms that were obviously contaminated with smoke. Also, we saw several guests smoking in the pool area and lots were smoking by the valet parking. At last, the staff relocated us to another room that overlooked the swimming pool. This room was much better and did not smell of cigarette smoke. The accommodations were okay but did not wow us. We have stayed in much nicer locations for less money. One thing I can say that is great about this hotel is that the location of this hotel is fabulous. It is by some really good restaurants on the Riverwalk. You walk out of the hotel and you are right on the Riverwalk. That part of our stay was very nice."
