My wife and I just wanted to stay somewhere nice as a ski hub for all of the resorts around the city. It was nice, but maybe a little too nice for what we needed. No complaints, except the hotel charges to use the poolsauna. I thought this was going a little too far when you get charged to use the facilities you would think youve already paid for in your room rate. Disappointing. "One of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in! Beautiful lobby, rooms, common rooms grounds and gardens, all perfectly maintained. Exceptional service. We used the concierge several times and they never disappointed. On the first night we got in late and we were looking for a nice place to eat other than the hotel because we were going to eat there the next night. We had heard about Lambs so we stopped and asked the concierge. He confirmed that it was a SLC landmark and that it served great food so we started walking. By the time we got there, the manager was waiting outside for us. The concierge was concerned that we might not make it there until after the restaurant closed, so he called Lambs to tell them that we were coming. And then Lambs stayed open for us for about an hour past closing. We returned to Lambs for 2 more meals and it was packed each time. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay In every new city that we go to, we always take a half day tour of the city to get an overview. The concierge scheduled us a tour with an independant guide rather than Grey Lines. It was a great tour! Our guide besides knowing about the history and landmarks, he also new about current happenings in town. That night, a Thursday night, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was rehearsing with the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the rehearsal was free. It was a wonderful experience!"

There aren't alot of choices in SLC or Utah for that matter, so with that said, this is probably your best bet. I splurged for a suite and was very disappointed. The shower was so tiny, the toilet room was bigger than the shower! Granted the bathrooms are nice and well done, but I can barely move in the tiny shower! The room was soso, nothing horrible, nothing great. Not that I was there to watch tv, but they were in odd locations that made it difficult to see. The room with the bed was very tiny. Breakfast room service was HORRIBLE! I got an omelette, with some of the most disgusting cheese I've ever seen in my life, the fruit plate was so sad and small, and my wife's oatmeal looked disgusting. "Nice hotel, but a few problems. We valeted the car, and when we came out to pick up the car they brought us the wrong car. They were going to give us the wrong car. We went to bed around 11pm and were awoken after midnight by a rowdy bunch of people in the hall and continuing their party in... more" ...Read Full Review

"This hotel is beautiful - marble bathrooms, large open rooms, gorgeous wallcoverings, fabulous lighting, etc. However, their customer service leaves much to be desired. Their event planners are unfriendly and difficult to work with. Planning a party should be a happy and fun thing; when plans change, event planners need to realize that their job is to make one want to return and schedule an event again and encourage future clients to book these rooms. I found this not to be the case at this hotel and would not recommend it for events."

"My stays at this hotel have been wonderful. The rooms and service are exceptional. I agree, however, with the reviewer who said the food needs work. In February 2008, I held a family dinner for 12 at the Garden Cafe, the hotel's main restaurant. On previous visits, the food has been excellent, which is why (together with the gorgeous setting)... more" ...Read Full Review

"I am without complaint. This hotel is beautiful, the staff and management are excellent, and they have thought of every detail. They offer bottled water and chocolate chip cookies while you are checking in, and the housekeeper practically raced us down the hall to give us chocolates and offer a turn-down service after dinner. They got us reservations at the... more" ...Read Full Review

"As close to heavenly as a hotel can get describes the Grand America! It is simply beautiful. Beautiful chandeliers, rooms, even the normal one(not suites) were pure opulence. You get free water bottles daily, a cute courtyard with robotical figures dressed in picninc clothes, a great glowing water fountain, marvelous views, and absolutely splendid service! The only downfall, very pricey.... more" ...Read Full Review

"The massage I received was very good however the front desk staff of the spa needs to learn how to act like professionals, they were too busy with personal games and interests to pay proper attention to clients. The changing area is tiny for such a huge locker room, shower was small and very average. The only thing grand about this spa was the name."
