"During our 3 day stay, they only had one person at the front desk, so it took too long to check in, get info., etc. People who work there were nice, but they need to have more staff members there."

"The pictures are nicer than the actual presentation. The sealing in the bathroom is very low. Try not to look to closely at the corners and the edges because it will start to feel like you are in a Days Inn. The TV was in an awkward location of the room. It was okay for the value. Not completely satisfied with the entire stay."

"The location was perfect. I did not use Valet and parked my rental behind hotel on a busy street and the car was broken into. Perhaps by one of the homeless, they took my favorite sweater. The rooms need renovated."

"We, a family of 4, booked this hotel for sightseeing in Washington and were really surprised to find a hotel like that for that price so close to the White House etc. Nothing bad to say at all - room was spacious, hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful - just perfect and a very good experience after hotels in NYC ..."

"The hotel is close to the Dupont Circle Metro stop, which is very helpful. The front desk can provide a map with very clear directions, and you can buy a MetroCard (that lets you load on additional money) at the CVS store in DuPont Circle. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked well, and the room was quiet (even though it was next to the service staff closets). Although the hotel does not provide breakfast, you can buy it in the hotel bar grill, or stop at any number of nearby breakfast places (like Washington DC people who live or work in the area do)."

"Just stayed one night. It was a room and shower to use. I would stay there again. Some people said bathroom is small guess they haven't been to NYC. I found everything acceptable. Everything was clean. If you're coming to sight see on the mall it's a little far for that. But it was real close to dupont circle and some night life if you're interested in that. I do plan to stay there again in the near future. I didn't eat there nor visit the bar. It closes at 10pm. I know people were coming all through the evening to goto the hotel bar and they were turned away. I think the hotel needs to look at that policy."

"Within walking distance of most anything worth seeing. Metro is only 4 blocks away for the others. Dupont Circle is only a few blocks away with plenty of good restaurants. Staff was always more than helpful and friendly. Would stay there again."

"a - The main disappointment was the fact that the bed sheets were not clean and fresh. We arrived late on friday and the sheets were used - I was so disappointed!! B - Of 2 elevators, one was broken the whole week end and no evidence of calls to maintenance. And they were tine elevators, max 6 persons at a time. ANd teh hotelwas full. C - The hotel smell, sorry stink of desinfectantsoap or something I will not recommend or go back to this hotel."

"The room was very small, but clean with nice furnishings. Compared to other hotels in the area, this was a good value for the money. The surrounding neighborhood was very nice and safe. It is also within walking distance, or a short cab ride away from all attractions."

"Hotel is in a great neighborhood within 5-10 minute walk of metro station and about a 25 minute walk to Georgetown. Plenty of restaraunts and shopping near hotel. Rooms are modern and nicely decorated. Beds were very comfortable. All around incredible value for the price."

"It was okay for the money, but I can't say I was thrilled. Hair on the bathroom floor when I checked in, elevator out of service for most of the four days I stayed, and no wireless internet connection (AND you have to pay for a CAT-5 cable)."

"This hotel was a good place to stay during my trip to D.C. It was in a good neighborhood and fairly close to everything. We walked everywhere we went for the most part and it took 10 to 15 minutes to get to most of the main sightseeing places. Also the hotel's restaurant had a great brunch!"

"If driving a car to the hotel, remember to add $30 per night to the tab for parking. It was a nightmare for us (and others) to unload our cars because there is insufficient space in front of the hotel for handling customer's cars. The elevators are more like little closets that move up and down. If you have a stroler or wheelchair, it's going to be tight. The rooms are pretty nice and well-appointed. Location is three blocks walk from the metro - not too bad. Surrounding neighborhood is businesses. Retaurant picking is slim at best around the hotel. No place could be found for breakfast on the weekend outside of Starbucks. Of course, you could eat at the hotel if you don't mind paying $4 for a glass of OJ. Staff courtesy was a mixed bag. People behind front desk were frazzled, however bell hops were friendly. I'm on the fence about this hotel."

"Easy walk to Metro. A few cafes nearby are open on weekends. Not a lot of choices, but adequate for a quick bite to eat. Hotel is nicely renovated. Hotel parking is very expensive as is on site restaurant. No free internet."

"I used to live in Washington and needed to find a hotel on short notice. The Beacon had the best price for the location. The doors between the rooms allow quite a bit of sound to pass through, otherwise it was a solid choice -- especially for the money!"

"I stayed at this hotel on a recent business trip. I liked being in a smaller, quiet hotel with a great location. The pluses were a larger than average room with a comfortable bed and small sitting area. The rooms have been updated and are clean but do not have all of the bells and whistles seen in some hotels. However, for me I don't really care if the TV is not a plasma or LCD. It was perfectly adequate. My only complaint was that they did not always have enough staff to deal with the volume of patrons. Check-in was a breeze at 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon but the following morning I had trouble getting a cab because there was no bellman and the following morning I had to wait about 10 minutes before being able to check-out due to insufficient staff. This was particularly frustrating because I had prepaid my bill and just needed to let them know I was checking out and to return my room key. I would have thought there would have been an express checkout option for someone like me who had no bill to settle. Other than that, I had a good experience."

"I could not beleive how thin the walls were in this hotel. I heard ever toilet flush, every shower, every cough. Our room was right be the elevator, which was terrible. We must have been woken up 2x each night by abnoxious people roaming the halls or stumbling to their rooms. The rooms are a good size, but the bathrooms were tiny. Even the tub was smaller than standard. I was excited about the Sky Bar but dissapointed to find out that it closed each night at 10pm. Seems a bit early for a bar."

"Arriving at the Beacon was exceptional. We were greeted and immediately helped into the lobby to check in. Check in was efficient. The hotel is in a great neighborhood and was a great location for what we needed. The room was relatively clean...a few minor issues in the bathroom. It was taken care of immediately by housekeeping. My only problems were that the room was on the small side..I could live with that. We stayed on the 2nd floor, the ice machine was on the 3rd floor. Just slightly inconvenient but not a deal breaker to stay there. The vending machines were on the T floor wherever that was, again slightly inconvenient but not too bad. All in all I would definately stay there again."

"Chose this as one of the lowest priced hotels in walking distance to the sights and it was excellent. Desk staff were courteous and helpful even after we had checked out. We did not try the hotel restaurant, as there were so many wonderful choices within easy reach. Arrived in city by train, and easily made it the 3-4 blocks from the metro station. No trouble finding it if you can read a map. Felt very safe in the neighborhood. A great place to stay if you want the convenience."

"I stayed in the Beacon Hotel for two nights on 4309 and 4409 for the cherry blossom festival. It got really chilly over night, and I turned on the heat all the way up. After a few minutes of no heat coming out from the vent, I called the front desk and asked about the heat condition. The front desk said that they've turned off the central controlled heat. So for the two nights, my husband and I were frozen. When we came back from the trip, my husband got a bronchitis. I guess the hotel needs to conserve heat, but not when it's still cold in early April. I was very uncomfortable during the whole stay."

"The hotel is a little old with the bathroom tiles and thin walls we can heare the toilets flush) but the service, location and cleanliness of the room and hotel surpasses that. Bed was real comfy although we had a tiny closet, no biggie if your staying for the weekend since they also had drawers. Great location; near St. matthews, National Geographic Museum, a few blocks from the white house. Near Mcdonalds, bars and lounges, but delis seem to be closed on weekends. 2 blocks from metro station. Staff was reall nice and friendy and room came with free champange. Didn't eat at the grill because the food was way to pricey to justify $16.00 for continental breakfast but there were lots of people there for Brunch on Sunday. I would definately stay there again."
